KPop Demon Hunters was a huge success for Sony Pictures Animation, becoming the biggest movie on Netflix. With their next movie, GOAT, having just been released, people are curious as to what their next plans are. The Hollywood Reporter sat down with SPA heads Kristine Belson and Damien de Froberville for an interview. Belson has been with the studio since 2015, de Froberville since 2023, being elevated to co-president last year. Under them, SPA would release several acclaimed films, including Spider-Verse and KPop Demon Hunters. Their interview reveals some insight into their plans for SPA moving forward, along with some other details.

Belson and Froberville talked a bit about the production of GOAT, revealing they sit six minutes from the first act. More interesting were details on the forthcoming KPop Demon Hunters sequel; when the interviewer stated that the 2029 release seemed “far-fetched,” Belson responded by placing her pointer finger on her nose, indicating that the sequel may take longer than expected. She also stated that Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans will be returning for the sequel. De Froberville also admits that he found Across the Spider-Verse hard to top, but spoke positively of the concept art for the picture. Whatever lies in store, Belson and de Froberville seem confident.
