To the surprise of many, out of the blue, Bethesda Softworks dropped some substantial new Starfield news onto the internet. Unfortunately, it might be far too late.
The next batches of content for Starfield were revealed in a new trailer on March 17th, 2026. They highlighted the free-for-everyone, available now, complete bounty series in the Trackers Alliance content pack, alongside a showcase of the upcoming free content release entitled Free Lanes. Set to bring “major upgrades to space travel, customization, New Game+, outposts, and much more,” the other major reveal was a paid expansion, Terran Armada.
Set to tell the story of an invasion of the Settled Systems by a force of advanced robots, both Terran Armada and Free Lanes will debut on April 7th. This is also the date when Starfield will be available on the PS5, finally bringing the game to the console of Microsoft’s once-rival.
Interestingly, it was also revealed that players who purchased the game’s Premium Edition will be receiving Terran Armada for free, a bonus for those Xbox and PC gamers who were initially only promised the 2024 expansion, Shattered Space.
Despite this big release of content and a media push with interviews at gaming outlets, Starfield’s future success still looks uncertain. The time it has taken to get this new content has seen the game shed players and supporters for the many months that followed the mixed reception to the release of Shattered Space. Perhaps release on the PS5 and further reveals of content will help regain player interest, but we’ll likely have to wait a few months and weigh the impact of these new releases on the game’s community.
