The Batman Part II, directed by Matt Reeves, will be delayed again. Originally, the film was set to be released on October 2, 2026. Then Warner Bros. delayed it by a year, setting a new release date of October 1, 2027. At the time, James Gunn defended the delay, citing the trend of large gaps between sequels. Now, it seems the studio needs a few more months as the updated release date is February 18, 2028. The Batman was released in March 2022, cementing a six-year gap between the films. Reeves used Vimeo to announce the new date and show the first footage of Robert Pattinson as Batman in the film.

Pattinson is accompanied by Scarlet Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry, and Sebastian Koch in the movie while Mattson Tomlin helped Reeves pen the script. Warner Bros. are keeping plot details closely guarded for the time being. In other news, J.J. Abrams is developing a new movie called The Great Beyond that the studio described as “a four-quadrant, all-audience spectacle.” That film has also been delayed from its initial release date of November 13, 2026, to October 1, 2027. With the extra time, Warner Bros. is giving the movie an IMAX 70mm rollout.
