An acclaimed composer is returning to familiar stomping grounds! It’s been confirmed that Academy Award-winning film composer Michael Giacchino will score David Robert Mitchell’s upcoming science fiction film, The End of Oak Street. This will be the first collaboration between Mitchell and Giacchino.
One of the most iconic, acclaimed, and beloved film composers in the industry, Michael Giacchino is truly a composer who never sleeps. After getting his start in video games and TV series such as Alias and Lost, Giacchino found his stride in 2004 with The Incredibles. Since 2004, Giacchino has scored at least one film per year; in some cases, he’s scored four to five. He’s best known for his frequent collaborations with some of the biggest directors in Hollywood, including J.J. Abrams, Brad Bird, Matt Reeves, Pete Docter, and Taika Waititi. He’s won multiple accolades, including an Oscar for his score for Up.
The End of Oak Street is Michael Giacchino’s third confirmed score of 2026. He’s set to work on Destin Daniel Cretton’s highly anticipated superhero film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, his 8th score for Marvel Studios. He’s also set to provide the score for Brad Bird’s upcoming animated film, Ray Gunn, which will premiere on Netflix sometime this year. While they have yet to be confirmed, rumors have circulated that Giacchino will also score J.J. Abrams’ upcoming fantasy film The Great Beyond and Taika Waititi’s adaptation of Klara and the Sun. We at Culture Slate will keep our ears to the ground for sweet music should those rumors be confirmed.
The End of Oak Street will be released on August 14th.
