It seems that secrets have been a major theme of this season so far. With the twins hiding things from each other and their loved ones, to Pike revealing a vision she saw, and even a secret dungeon that was found in this batch of episodes, secrets have been everywhere for Vox Machina.

Vox Machina finds a hidden tunnel system in Whitestone Castle. When they investigate, it's worse than they thought. It appears that Delilah Briarwood built an underground system for Sylas to live in, once he became infected with vampirism. We learn of her dark experiments down there, and how she was even cloning Sylas, to try and figure out a cure. Most surprisingly, though, is who Vex meets while she’s down there. Without giving too much away, it’s a major character from campaign 3. I thought it was so cool they incorporated her into this story, and I loved getting to see a character from Bells Hells in animation.

Oh yeah, Delilah Briarwood is back. This woman seriously never dies. She even appears in campaign 3 as a voice in Laudna’s head. She is now a part of a cult that worships the Whispered One, who she swears is going to become a God soon, which would be very bad for Vox Machina. As annoying as she is sometimes, she is an absolutely amazing villain, and one of the best in CR history. This has also meant that Percy has had to confront the trauma he has from the Briarwoods. He thought they were defeated for good, so you could imagine how triggering it was for him to know that Delilah is still kicking. He does confront his fear and can “defeat” Delilah in this moment. I loved seeing this growth out of Percy.

I always like to mention my favorite scenes from each batch of episodes, and this week's came from episode 8. This episode brought back everyone’s favorite bard, Scanlan Shorthalt. We get to see how he and Kaylie have been doing on their tour. He’s less than thrilled when Vox Machina shows up, but is eventually grateful when he has to battle a demon who works for the Whispered One, because he stole the vestige, the Scanlan turned into a guitar. This battle is so cool. It’s a “music off”, as I’m calling it, with both of them playing guitar and singing. The animation is gorgeous and so colorful. I love how the scene was done, with the rest of Vox Machina eventually joining in and helping Scanlan. I also love getting to see Sam Reigel shine with his musical talents. Even though he provided a song in one of the previous episodes, I missed seeing him flexing those skills as Scanlan.

Season 4 of The Legend of Vox Machina has been a rollercoaster ever since it started. It’s definitely setting up for something big in the final season. This has been my favorite season so far, and I love to see how far our heroes have come. The addition of Taryon this season has been wonderful, and Wayne Brady has done such a great job of bringing the character to life. There are only three episodes left, and I cannot wait to see what those episodes have in store.
