What Will Happen In 'Ahsoka' Season 2?

Since the end of April, roughly one week after Star Wars Celebration in Japan, the principal shooting for season two of Ahsoka is underway. Following the end of Andor, this is now the only confirmed Star Wars TV project for Disney+ (although there are probably a lot of ideas for future shows tossed around at Lucasfilm).

Lucasfilm has yet to confirm a premiere date, but the typical production cycle, as well as the weekly release of Rebels episodes on YouTube, might be an indication that the show will premiere sometime in the fall of 2026.

As always, the story is under close wraps, but Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau gave away some hints about what's to come during the Ahsoka panel in Tokyo. Besides, season one ended with several open threads that will most likely be continued (and resolved) in season two.

The Journey Home

Ahsoka

While Grand Admiral Thrawn and his remaining troops were able to make the jump back to the main galaxy with the help of the “Eye of Sion”, a massive hyperspace ring, Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and the droid Huyang were stuck on Peridea.

One of the storylines of season two will have to deal with how the trio will be able to leave this other galaxy to continue their hunt for the Chiss and dwarf his effort to rebuild a new empire.

The shuttle they came in is still intact, but it lacks the hyperspace drive to make the intergalactic jump. So, one possibility is that Ahsoka contacts the Purrgils again through the Force, and they return to their galaxy inside one of the giant space whales, just like they traveled to Periedae in the first place.

Now that Ezra Bridger is back, he surely informs the New Republic of Aksoka's whereabouts and could make them send a rescue mission. Based on the lack of enthusiasm the New Rebulic has shown to Hera Syndulla's warnings about Thrawn's return, such an endeavor might end up as an unauthorized mission by the former captain of the Ghost and could reunite the remaining members of the Spectres (Hera, Ezra, Zeb Orellios and of course Chopper) to bring Tano and Wren back.

This still leaves the question of how this rescue team would even be able to reach Peridea, but maybe they could build a smaller version of the “Eye of Sion” if Trawn decided not to destroy it.

Anyway, Ahsoka and Sabine's return will probably not happen in the first episodes of season two, as there is at least one other unfinished business on Peridea.

In the Hall Of The Mountain King

Baylan Skoll

At the end of episode 8 of season one, Baylan Skoll stood on the outstretched arm of the massive statue of the Father, one of the Mortis Gods, looking out at a distant mountain peak where a light was blinking.

After the death of Ray Stevenson, who played the former Jedi, the Ahsoka panel in Japan confirmed that the character would be recast by Rory McCann so that his storyline could continue.

Skoll's true motivation to help Morgan Elsbeth get to Peridea was never fully explained in season one. While he and his apprentice Shin Hati seemed to be just hired guns at the beginning, it soon became clear that Skoll had his own agenda, one that didn't include Hati, as the two split ways in the last episode. Much like Dooku, he is kind of an idealist, seeking to reform the galaxy through war and establishing a new Order that is neither the Republic nor the Empire nor a new Jedi Order. He obviously knows a lot about Mortis and seems to be on a quest to get to the mystical Mortis.

The season three arc of The Clone Wars never truly explained if what had happened to Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka had actually occurred or was just a vision in their minds, and Filoni could finally answer this question in season two of Ahsoka.

Maybe Mortis is actually on Peridea or on the top of this mountain, there is at least a passway to this realm that Skoll seeks to gain "unlimited power" to create his new order. So, his endgame is probably not to stay on Peridea but to return to the main galaxy after he finds whatever he is seeking there. However, his actions will likely bring him into direct conflict with Ahsoka and Sabine, who still have an account to settle with the former Jedi.

The Way Of The Apprentice

Shin Hari

At the end of season one, Shin Hati seemed to strive to become the leader of the Bandits of Peridea, a group of local marauders. Like those of Skoll, her motivations are not clear, but it is safe to assume that she won't be satisfied with just leading a group of pirates roaming a desolate wasteland. Season two could see her trying to use her Force powers to subdue other clans, becoming a kind of warlord with the ultimate goal of dominance over the whole Peridea. She could also try to take revenge on Skoll for promising her a future and then throwing her away.

A battle between Hati and her gang, Skoll and Ahsoka, together with Sabine, would be an interesting part of the season's storyline.

More Clone Wars

Hayden Christensen is confirmed to be back for Ahsoka season two, which could mean that there will be more live-action Clone Wars. There are rumors that Ewan McGregor and even Natalie Portman will reprise their roles from the Prequel Trilogy.

Such scenes would likely also include a younger version of Ahsoka, but so far, Lucasfilm has not confirmed if Ariana Greenblatt will be back as well.

Anakin could, of course, also appear as a Force-Ghost again, probably this time even interacting with his former Padawan, just like Obi-Wan did with Luke.

Resurrection

Nightsisters

Before the “Chimaera” left Peridae, hundreds, if not thousands, of coffins were loaded into the belly of the Star Destroyer. Season two will most probably reveal if they contain corpses of fallen Stormtroopers or the bodies of deceased witches (or both).

Trawn will need a massive army if he wants to retake the galaxy from the New Republic, and the resurrected Night Troopers have already proven to be far more effective than regular Stormtroopers. On the other hand, bringing the Nightsisters to Dathomir could have been the price the Great Mothers demanded for the passage to the other galaxy.

While The Clone Wars has shown that the Nighsisters could resurrect their dead as zombie-like creatures, the recent Tales of the Underworld miniseries has gone even a step further, showing that the Dark Side Magik is even capable of bringing someone back from the afterlife into the realm of the living.

An army of resurrected Night Troopers, together with hundreds of witches (with mystical weapons), would surely prove to be a formidable opponent for the New Republic.

Maybe we also learn how and why the Nightsisters left their own galaxy and settled on Dahtomir for the first time.

The Council Will See You Now

Shadown Council

During the Ahsoka panel in Japan, Filoni joked that Jon Favreau is allowed to mention Thrawn in his shows, but only he gets to play with the Admiral. In a scene from the third season of The Mandalorian, the Shadow Council, a group of remaining Imperial leaders, talked about the impending return of Thrawn, and season two of Ahsoka will likely show how the Chiss takes control of the Shadow Council. Chances are that he will be less than impressed with what the Imperial remnants have achieved so far, but if anyone can stop their jealousy and cut-throating and fully reunite for the common cause, it is Thrawn. Chances are also that he will have to get rid of those who do not wish to bend to his will.

The dealings of the Shadow Council could also establish a further connection to the Sequel Trilogy and how the remaining Imperial leaders worked toward Palpatine's Contingency Plan and the resurrection of the Emperor.

The Empire Strikes Back

Rebel Fleet

So far, the Battle of Jakku, one year after Endor, was the last major standoff between the New Republic and the Empire, but Filoni has hinted that season two of Ahsoka will include a massive space battle between Thrawn and his troops and the forces of the new government. Admiral Ackbar will be back, probably leading the fleet from the bridge of “Home One”. A fleet that might not be so massive, as the New Republic has likely already started to demilitarize itself, not that the threat of the Empire is seemingly gone.

It is possible that parts of the story that were originally intended to be part of Dave Filoni's Mandoverse movie will now be included in Ahsoka season two, and if true, Thrawn is still set to be the big bad of this movie; he will not be completely defeated in the TV show.

The Cats Are Back

Finally (and most importantly), the Asoka panel showed a picture of a bunch of cute little Loth-Kittens, so fans will probably get an answer about what happened to Sabine's Loth-Cat.
