One of the final panels on Saturday at NYCC was about Mortal Kombat II. The movie was originally going to come out on October 24th, 2025, instead has been moved to May 15th, 2026. The panel featured a special clip for fans, but also a panel with the cast. It was also revealed that a third movie has been greenlit and has already started to be written.

The panel was moderated by one of the creators of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon. It featured director Simon McCoy, writer Jeremy Slater, Karl Urban (Johnny Cage), Adeline Rudolph (Kitana), Tati Gabrielle (Jade), and Martyn Ford (Shao Kahn). Ed Boon told fans how excited he is for us to see this movie. He even revealed he has a small cameo as Ed the Bartender, similar to a Stan Lee cameo in the Marvel movies. It’s also not just an action movie.

It’s emotional, full of drama, and some fans may even shed a tear or two. Adeline and Tati were asked what it’s like to play sisters in the movie, as the two actresses are best friends in real life. They both said it’s been amazing, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. Adeline also answered a question about her lack of martial arts experience, and how she and her stunt doubles would train with each other, and pretty consistently. She mentioned how she became used to the fans and became her favorite part. Karl Urban discusses Johnny Cage and how we get to see him transform into a champion of sorts. Ed Boon promises us that Martyn Ford is such a sweetheart in real life, especially because his character is not a nice guy. Martyn also says how he would be in the makeup chair for 4-5 hours, with a call time starting at 2 am. There was even some trivia with fans and the cast.

The clip that was shown showed Johnny, Sonya, Liu Kang, and Jax going to the village of Baraka. They are trying to convince him to help them fight against Shao Kahn. It doesn’t go well, and ends up even worse when Johnny starts to run his mouth. Baraka agrees to one combat, but with Johnny. The two fight, with Johnny getting his ass kicked most of the fight, until he puts on his sunglasses and channels his inner actor. Here, the tables turn in his favor. The special effects and makeup looked really good, and the fighting was exciting. Fans will be in for a treat when the movie is finally released.
