HBO Max Release Date Set For 'Superman'

While you may still find the film being shown at select theaters at scattered times throughout the day, Superman (2025) has essentially drawn the curtain closed on its theatrical run. The film has finally been given an official streaming release date! Superman (2025) will hit HBO Max on Friday, September 19, 2025. Lead actor David Corenswet posted a selfie on Instagram featuring the HBO Max page for the film, and director James Gunn reposted a screenshot to X, which corroborate the release date.

Superman (2025) had a very successful theatrical run. The film opened with a revenue of about $125 million by the end of its first weekend. That is just under $10 million more than Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which released later in the month; of the three Marvel films released in 2025, this film was the top performer. With a current worldwide revenue of about $615.13 million, Superman (2025) has firmly established itself as the top-performing superhero film of 2025, surpassing the Marvel films released this year. All in all, for the film kickoff of a universe reboot, this film performed well.

Superman was released on July 11, 2025. Supergirl hits theaters on June 26, 2026, following Kal’s cousin Kara as her birthday partying to different planets turns into a revenge quest once she meets Ruthye Marye Knoll. The direct follow-up to Superman (2025) is in the works as well, with a current release window resting on July 2027.
