At last, Lucasfilm has unveiled the first trailer of the upcoming Star Wars animated series Maul - Shadow Lord.

Set after the events of the Prequel Trilogy, the galaxy faces an era of oppression, darkness, and tyranny that it’s never had before. Emperor Palpatine’s Galactic Empire continues to spread darkness and fear across the galaxy, forcing people to comply with their rule or perish. While Imperial forces spread far and wide, defeating anyone who stands in their way, Maul seeks revenge on those who wronged him and attempts to rebuild his criminal syndicate. Meanwhile, a Jedi Padawan named Devon Izara is on the run from the Empire, forced to live in a world where the Jedi are seen as the enemy. Both Maul and Devon must come together to outrun Imperial forces and the criminal underworld’s endless barrage of scum and villainy.

Maul - Shadow Lord is the newest Star Wars animated series created by writer, director, and Lucasfilm’s Chief Creative Officer and newly minted co-President Dave Filoni. The series was developed by Filoni and Matt Michnovetz, the latter of whom was a head writer on the final two seasons of The Clone Wars, wrote multiple episodes of Rebels, and wrote all six episodes of Tales of the Underworld. Brad Rau will act as supervising director, a role he held on The Bad Batch. Kevin, Sean, and Deana Kiner will provide the musical score, following their work on The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Bad Batch, Ahsoka, and Tales.
