It has been just over a decade since the pilot for Star Wars Rebels first aired, and the series is just as incredible today as it was then. Not only did the series introduce us to the Ghost Crew, Lothcats, the planet of Lothal, and Grand Admiral Thrawn, but it also set up the future of the Star Wars franchise. Thanks to this series, we have gotten so much more content and characters than would have been possible without it. To celebrate the greatness of this series, I wanted to take a look at 10 of the coolest moments!

WARNING!!! This post will include spoilers for the entire series!!!

10. Kanan And Ezra Vs The Inquisitor

The Inquisitor is a major villain for the entire first season of Rebels. During episode nine, Ezra and Kanan leave the Ghost Crew in an attempt to draw the Inquisitor away from them. The pair led him to the abandoned base, Fort Anaxes, where Hera and Sabine had just had a near-death encounter with a creature known as fyrnocks. They go into the creatures’ lair and, through the force, get them to work with and attack the Inquisitor and Stormtroopers when they arrive. This was one of the first times we really got to see Ezra tapping into the force, and when you add the context of the rest of the episodes to this moment, it is chill-inducing.

9. The Purrgil

One of my very favorite things about Star Wars is all of the different creatures that we get to meet. While the Lothcats are my favorite creature, the Purrgil are a close second. In season two episode 15, we are introduced to the creatures for the very first time. This is also the first time that we get to see what Ezra’s true strength is when he is tapped into the Force. There isn’t one moment from this episode that is better because, as the episode goes on, we get to learn more about the Purrgil, why they are near a fuel depot, and what impact they have had on Star Wars lore.

8. Ahsoka And Rex Reunited

If you are a fan of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, then you know how close Ahsoka and Rex were. They not only were close throughout the entire series, but they also are the only reason that either one survived the events of Order 66. It is revealed during Rebels that Ahsoka and Rex have not seen each other in years, and they actually have no idea whether the other one is alive or not. At the end of season two episode four, we finally get to see them reunited. This is one of my favorite moments in the series because you can see the pure relief that they feel when they finally get to see each other.

7. Hera And The B-wing Bomber

Hera is one of the best pilots in all of Star Wars, and it isn’t close. Her talent and passion for flying are apparent throughout the series, but her best moment comes in season two episode seven. Hera not only tells us about her passion, but we also get to see her fly a B-wing Bomber, which at this point is a ship that no one else is capable of flying. If that wasn’t cool enough, we then get to see her use it to break an Imperial Blockade and watch as the Imperial forces stare in disbelief at the capabilities of the ship.

6. Fulcrum Revealed

During the first season of the series, we hear Hera and Kanan referring to someone known only as Fulcrum. They are the person providing most of their intel, but no one knows exactly who they are. This causes some problems with Sabine, but it won’t be until the season one finale that we finally get to see who is behind the voice. As the Ghost Crew are attempting to rescue Kanan from the Inquisitor, it is revealed that Ahsoka Tano is Fulcrum. Even though I have seen this scene tons of times, it still makes me giddy to see her appear in the Ghost.

5. Kanan’s Sight Returns

Season four is the most gut-wrenching collection of content in all of Star Wars, but this scene is the hardest to watch. Kanan lost his sight during the Malacore arc, and it is something that he has been learning to live with by using the Force to help him see. In episode 10, Kanan chooses to sacrifice himself to save the Ghost Crew. Right before he is taken by the explosion, he is holding back with the Force; we see his eyes clear, and he and Hera can see each other clearly one last time. Just typing this out is putting a lump in my throat because it is THAT impactful. It’s an incredible scene, but I will never forgive Dave Filoni for doing this to me.

4. Ezra Saving Ahsoka

Ezra in the world between worlds, watching Ahsoka battle Darth Vader.

In season four episode 13, we get to see the Mortis arc from Clone Wars come back into play. Ezra and Sabine sneak onto an Imperial dig site where they are studying a picture of the Brother, Father, and Sister. Ezra is able to figure out the key to opening the door to the world between worlds, which we have never seen before. After diving in, he realizes he can see Ahsoka’s battle with Vader back on Malacore, where she lost her life, and he is able to reach in and pull her out right before she would have died. This is one of the coolest scenes for so many reasons, but my favorite thing about it is that he is able to save Ahsoka.

3. Kanan’s Revelation

Season one episode two is one of my favorite episodes because of how Kanan reveals that he is a Jedi. When the Ghost Crew attempts to rescue a group of Wookies that the Empire is trying to ship to the spice mines on Kessel, they are completely overrun by Imperial forces. Kanan decides to reveal he is a Jedi so that the others have time to get the Wookies to safety and prepare for a pickup from Hera. Not only does Kanan walk out through a barrage of blaster fire while putting together his lightsaber, but Kallus adds to the overall greatness of the episode when he declares, “All Troopers, focus your fire on… the Jedi!” It is one of the coolest moments in Star Wars.

2. I Am No Jedi

Ahsoka battling Darth Vader on Malacore in the Sith temple.

The entire Malacore arc in the final two episodes of season two is incredible, but it is episode 22 where we get one of the best moments in the entire series. Ahsoka is reunited with Anakin for the first time since before Order 66, and she is forced to come to the realization that he is the Sith Lord known as Darth Vader. During their battle, Vader tells her that he destroyed her master because he was weak. She says that she will avenge him, and when Vader says, “Revenge is not the Jedi way,” Ahsoka tells him, “I am no Jedi.” This scene will always give me chills because of how much growth we get to see in Ahsoka, but also the pain that we see as she battles her former master and friend.

1. Obi-Wan And Maul’s Final Showdown

Obi-Wan battling Darth Maul on Tatooine.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the last characters that you would expect to see appear in Rebels, but not only does he appear, he also has the coolest moment in the entire series. Darth Maul plays a major role in this series, and his only focus is on getting revenge on Obi-Wan. After he and Ezra joined the Jedi and Sith holocrons, Ezra was able to see that Maul was going to Tatooine to look for Obi-Wan. In season three episode 20, Ezra is able to warn Obi-Wan, but Maul appears a second later, making their meeting inevitable. At first, it seems as though their battle may not happen, but then Maul realizes that Obi-Wan is protecting someone, and that is when Obi-Wan ignites his lightsaber. Their entire battle takes less than 10 seconds, and Obi-Wan holds Maul as he dies. In his final moments, he asks Obi-Wan if “It is the chosen one”, to which he confirms, “It is.” Maul’s final words are “He will avenge us,” and you see Obi-Wan finally show the pain he has been feeling all this time. It is impossible to put into words how truly incredible this scene is.
